Omi Ikkanchang Chopstick Rest Making Experience Activity

Bokun ID:
872988
Product Code:

001

Unlike conventional Ikkancho, which is made of bamboo, Omi Ikkancho uses paper string as the material, and is characterized by being strong, lightweight, and easy to handle.

50 years since the first Ebitani Kinsuke invented it

We work hard every day to provide a special item that is close to everyone's life.

Currently, the second generation Ebitani Yutaka and the third generation Ebitani Ryota have taken over that commitment, preserving tradition, and continuing to challenge innovative manufacturing in line with the times.

As an actual process,

After weaving flower knots (bellflower, peony) and cobblestone knitting with paper string, Japanese paper is attached.

The air is removed and finished by applying persimmon juice, which has been handed down since ancient times in Japan, several times.

This process traces the process of the product being sold, although there are differences in the level of difficulty

Please experience its difficulty and beauty.

Even if you don't have confidence in your hands, you can make a one-of-a-kind original chopstick rest with a beautiful, profound feel.

~What is Ikkancho ~
There is also a theory that Hikai Ichikan, who defected to Japan from the Ming Dynasty, introduced it and spread it, and it came to be called Ikkyancho because farmers made it during the quiet farming season.
It is one of Japan's traditional crafts, and one made by layering Japanese paper over and over on a frame made of bamboo or wood, and applying persimmon tannin or lacquer to make it waterproof or reinforced is called a quiet place.
It is counted as one of ten jobs in a thousand families, and is used for tea utensils, etc.
