When visiting the brewery, you will hear directly from the the person for manufacturing in Echi Brewery, which is the destination you are visiting.
The brewery is a place where only the manufacturer can enter during the sake brewing season, but in this tour, we can get special entry.
You can listen a lot of the story which the sake brewing process while walking through the brewery.
For example, sake is brewed sake, and it is said to have the highest alcohol content in the world for alcoholic beverages made only by brewing, such as wine or beer. Do you know why there is such technology in Japan?
You will love sake even more after finishing this tour.
Also, you can enjoy tasting Japanese tea with the water which is used for making sake.
At lunch, participants will experience kamado cooking, and make “rice balls” of Omi rice which made from Shiga. Also, you can enjoy Sakekasu pickles ( Sakekasu is the leftover bits from the sake making process). Please enjoy Japanese food culture including Japanese sake.
In the end, we will prepare a commemorative photo of this tour as a souvenir.

We offer various types of pure rice sake, ginjoshu, and junmai daiginjoshu from “Tomitsuru.”

*An optional fee will be charged for tasting the award-winning sake for a certain amount or more.
○ Participants will have lunch of handmade “rice balls” and “Japanese pickles” .
・You will experience making kamado cooked rice using firewood, from locally grown rice.
・You can make rice balls with your favorite ingredients.
Also, you can enjoy pickles, which has been made locally for a long time, and “sake kasuzuke,” in which vegetables are pickled for about 1 year using sake lees made after squeezing sake.

What is not included in the experience
The JR fare to Notogawa Station, which is the meeting place, is not included in the tour price
Precautions
This experience tour is an introduction to sake tasting. Due to restrictions in Japan, people under the age of 20 are not allowed to participate.
What you need
When visiting water sources and rice fields, it takes 10 to 15 minutes by bus from the Echi brewery, then get off the bus and take a tour.
In the case of heavy rain, the tour will be taken from inside the bus. Please bring an umbrella or a rain coat if needed.

Meet in front of the ticket gate at Notogawa Station (JR Biwako Line) at 9:15
JR Biwako Line Notogawa Station: 70 minutes direct from JR Shin-Osaka Station, 41 minutes direct from Kyoto Station
Please take the special rapid train departing from Shin-Osaka Station at 7:52 and Kyoto Station at 8:21. (JR fares are not included in the tour price)
10:00 Preparation water/rice field experience
We will prepare Japanese tea using the preparation water. You will experience tea tasting due to differences in water.
We plan to visit water sources in the Suzuka Mountains and rice fields that make sakamai. (Contents may change depending on the season)
11:00 Echi brewery tour
You can see all of Echi Brewery's sake brewing processes, which cannot be entered during production.
12:00 Tasting sake / Lunchrice balls [handmade by participants]
For lunch, participants will experience cooking locally grown rice in a furnace using firewood.
Participants will make rice balls with their favorite ingredients using freshly cooked rice.
Along with lunch, you can enjoy tasting sake, including Japanese sake that won awards at European competitions.
