Shiroishi Castle (also known as Matsuoka Castle) is a Hirayama Castle located in the center of Shiroishi City (Matsuoka Park).
It is a key point in the south of the Sendai Domain, and it became the residence of the Katakura clan, a heavy retainer of the Date family, for more than 260 years from the Battle of Sekigahara until the Meiji Restoration.
