During this tour, you will explore the historical Yufugawa Gorge while heading toward the iconic Chockstone.

You will walk, wade, and swim through the gorge, enjoying the refreshing air and splashes of waterfalls.

The tour is less physically demanding than the packrafting tour, which makes it a great option for families and larger groups.

【About Yufugawa Gorge】

Yufugawa Gorge is a 20 to 30-minute drive from the famous Beppu and Yufuin hot springs. With its magnificent rock wall, layers of moss, ferns, and thriving ecosystem, the gorge has become a popular attraction for both visitors and photographers. Children older than 11 years old (150 cm or taller, accompanied by a parent or legal guarzian) are eligible to participate as well! We are now accepting bookings for private tours!

【Mysterious Chock Stone】

The iconic Chock Stone is a huge boulder wedged between the rock wall of the Yufugawa Gorge. At the narrowest section, the rock walls are only 2 meters apart. Even if you search all over Japan, the Yufugawa Gorge is extremely rare. The chockstone is a symbol of this gorge, and it continues to capture the hearts of many people and has been the subject of many photographs. The chockstone in Yufugawa Gorge has been featured in posters of major companies and the works of renowned photographers. The tour provides a unique trekking experience that allows you to more safely venture deeper into the gorge to witness the chockstone. Inside the gorge, you’ll enjoy a cooler temperature, lush greenery, and the tranquil sound of the waterfall’s splash.

To see the chockstone, you must walk on the slippery rocks and proceed through waist-deep water. For safety reasons, we do not recommend going without safety gear. To ensure safety, the tour fee includes the rental of a helmet, life jacket, non-slip water shoes, thick wetsuit pants to protect your lower body and gloves. This tour is designed to provide participants with a safer and more comfortable river trekking experience.
