Open Factory【The World of Silk Refining】

This is a tour where you can visit Japan’s largest silk fabric refining factory. The Tango region produces over 70% of Japan's post-dyed pure silk fabric, and this tour allows you to visit its largest silk refining facility. The fabrics refined here go through drying, finishing, and inspection, and only those that pass the quality check are recognized as "Tango Chirimen."

Post-dyed pure silk fabrics from Tango are essential for dyeing techniques such as Yuzen. For over 300 years, Tango Chirimen has supported Japan’s traditional kimono culture. Today, in addition to producing pre-dyed fabrics like Nishijin-ori, the region also weaves many synthetic fibers for Western clothing and interior use, which are widely adopted by luxury fashion houses in Europe.

Tango is a hub for textile production, especially silk fabrics. This rare factory tour was previously available only to industry professionals but is now open to the general public—a one-of-a-kind opportunity!
