■Okama
Mount Zao, located on the border between Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures, is one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Zao's Okama is a crater lake surrounded by three mountains: “Mt. Katta,” “Mt. Kumano,” and “Mt. Goshiki,” and is a symbol of Zao along with ice trees. It is named after its shape like a cauldron, and it is also called “Goshikinuma” because it changes color depending on sunlight, such as deep green and blue. It also shows various expressions depending on the direction you look at it, and it captivates people. The circumference is about 1 km, the diameter is about 325 meters, and the depth is 27.6 meters at its deepest point, and there are no living organisms living there due to the highly acidic water.
