Kumamoto Castle is one of Japan's top three castles, and it is a grand castle that embodies the strategy and philosophy of samurai from 400 years ago. This castle is treasured by local Kumamoto people as a symbol of identity that goes beyond simply a historical landmark. Kumamoto Castle, built by Kato Kiyomasa, a master builder, is famous for its sturdy stone walls and clever defense system, and in particular, the design of a stone wall called “warrior return” is rare nationwide.
On this guided tour of about two and a half to three hours, a specialized guide familiar with the history and culture of Japan and Kumamoto will carefully explain the highlights of the castle in an easy-to-understand manner. You can feel the breath of history firsthand while learning about samurai stories, battles and lifestyles at the time, and architectural elements where craftsmanship shines. On the way to the castle tower, you can observe the strong defense system built by samurai during the Sengoku period and the numerous battle mechanisms set up inside the castle. The highlight of the tour is the spectacular view from the castle tower, which is the height of a 14-story building. The seasonal scenery is beautiful, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of Kumamoto city.
Also, the exhibits inside the castle tower are mainly described in Japanese, and a dedicated application is required for translation. However, by participating in a guided tour, you can gain a deep understanding of history and culture that cannot be obtained through exhibitions alone. You can fully experience the historical and cultural value of Kumamoto Castle through detailed explanations and personalized insights from the guide.
This tour is a valuable opportunity to experience the time when samurai from the Sengoku period were active, and at the same time feel once again that present-day Kumamoto Castle is a place that symbolizes Japanese history and culture. After booking, the start time can also be adjusted according to the customer's schedule.
Please join this guided tour where you can learn the depth of history, enjoy beautiful scenery, and fully enjoy the charm of Kumamoto Castle.
