Kumamoto Castle, one of Japan's three most famous castles, attracts many people with its magnificent architecture and rich history. Although it suffered significant damage during the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake, the restoration of the castle keep has been completed, and it now serves as a symbol of recovery, drawing many tourists. Additionally, in Kumamoto Prefecture, the hometown of "ONE PIECE" creator Eiichiro Oda, several character statues have been installed as part of the earthquake recovery support efforts. The Luffy statue at the Kumamoto Prefectural Office and the Sanji statue in Mashiki Town, among others, provide strength and inspiration to visitors throughout the prefecture.

Hitoyoshi Hikari Reconstruction Project - Landmarks of Light
At night, Hitoyoshi City transforms into a "Landmark of Light," enveloped in enchanting illuminations. Throughout the year, tourist spots and shopping streets are lit up, offering visitors a new way to enjoy the city. During the winter, the beauty of these lights becomes even more striking, particularly at Aoi Aso Shrine, which was founded 1,200 years ago. The torii gate, main gate, and sacred tree are all beautifully illuminated, creating a unique spectacle where history and light intertwine. This special atmosphere, different from the daytime, offers both tourists and local residents an opportunity to rediscover the charm of the city.
